And you were worried about Climate Change? Florida has other problems! It’s been raining Iguanas for days! 🤣 The cold temperatures in Florida have caused the prevalent invasive green iguana seen throughout the state to literally fall from trees due to their inability to regulate body temperature. When temperatures drop below around 40°F, these cold-blooded reptiles enter a state of torpor (often mistakeably called hibernation), losing muscle control and appearing frozen. They are not actually “frozen,” but the locals refer to the stunned iguanas as “being frozen.” This phenomenon has led to a significant number of iguanas being collected by the public and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) temporarily allowing the removal of these cold-stunned iguanas without a permit. Alexis “Lexie” Lawler, a (now former) labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida is no longer employed after a TikTok video surfaced that shows her making graphic and disgusting comments about White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who recently announced she is pregnant. She was promptly fired. As outrage grew, the State of Florida revoked her nursing license.

Reportedly, Ms. Lawler still insists her comments were “free speech” and she indicated we would file a lawsuit for wrongful termination. Would you want a labor and delivery nurse be openly calling for harm to a prospective mother? We wouldn’t and her employer and the state wouldn’t want that either.
